She’s the Dutch model who’s taken the world by storm, Imaan Hammam is very much considered part of the new generation of models however she’s been a working model since age thirteen and worked within the industry for the last seven years. Her runway debut was Paris Fashion Week, opening for the Givenchy Spring 2014 show and she’s since walked for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Victoria’s Secret. To top if all off she’s graced the cover of American Vogue (twice!) and featured in campaigns for Celine, Topshop and H&M.
Although she’s known for her big, beautiful wild locks when she first started out, Hammam admitted she was obsessed with hair straighteners, buckling under the pressure of beauty standards. It was when she started to embrace her curls that her career really took off, with her very existence within such an industry a breathe of fresh air. Some of my favourite editorials emphasise texture, think the fur accessories of Fendi and vintage-inspired pieces from Saint Laurent. I can also say without a shadow of a doubt that she’s pulled off the Balenciaga stiletto boot, worn with matching pink hot pants in spectacular style.
