Missoni Resort 2017
I can barely organise a phone call once a week to my family- let alone be the creative director of a family run business and yet that’s precisely what Angela Missoni has set out to do. Missoni Resort 2017 taking cues from the Missoni archive. More specifically, Angela had her sights set on the Missoni Fall 1971 collection creating ultra lightweight knits and lurex pieces perfect for warmer weather. Astonishingly she’s been at the helm of the Missoni fashion empire for two decades and remained true to the aesthetic everyone has come to know and expect. The seventies are the undisputed decade which capture the true essence of Missoni, as exemplified by the flared silhouettes, particularly the defined waistline and plunging V-necks emphasised by bold prints. This season’s standouts include the shimmering emerald green wrap coat styled with lurex socks and gold platforms and the lurex fringe jacket, in the same vein as Marco de Vincenzo and lesser known Krasimira Stoyneva (both lovers of fibres which are long and wild). Stuck for when to wear these threads? How about an island getaway, or if you like me, think Fridays (and by extension holidays) are a state of mind, on a Tuesday.
