Wearing: Romance Was Born shirt dress and eucalyptus dress and Asos shoes.
It's been years since I've left the country- compared to some of my peers or the average twenty-something year-old I haven't traveled a heck of a lot. I would love to be able to expand my horizons this year, but I take comfort in the fact that the natural beauty of this country has inspired some excellent clothing, case in point these two dresses. Both feature the iconic leaves of the eucalyptus tree in exquisite detail whilst also showcasing the delicate nature of the Australian wilderness and were designed by Romance Was Born. The long sleeve dress was made in collaboration with May Gibbs, a story teller in every sense of the word. She wrote stories on little sprite-like creatures which lived in among the gum nuts and in perfect harmony with nature. Although this outfit has some serious naturalist vibes, the vivid colours and silk print from afar are somewhat reminiscent of the bold colours of the 1980s. Maybe not quite the 80s, but certainly a more modern take on whimsical patterns and vivid shades of red and green.
