those summer nights

Wearing: Bardot dress, Thrifted crochet jacket, Dr Martens boots and Hattie Stewart X Poppy Lissiman heart clutch.

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it before but on a Monday night my boyfriend plays basketball and I usually go along to watch and score. We're both basketball referees actually (that's how we met) so Mondays are for social basketball and we usually go to McDonald's after to hang out. Obviously it would be a lot better if there was a cool retro-themed diner on the way home instead of an evil restaurant chain but beggars can't be choosers I guess. It definitely sucks the nuance out of the experience and deters me from wanting to photograph the chain of events but I do like to dress up even if it's just in comfy clothes. I also wanted to take photographs of my outfit under different lighting conditions and somewhere other than a brick wall. My instagram feed has been getting a little monotonous and despite it being a little tricky to adjust to at first I'm ultimately happy with the way these photos turned out.

    1. thanks Emily- I recommend buying crochet square stuff from op shops, especially stock up during Summer when you can give them a good wash and they'll dry in a day

I bought a big one for my single bed for $4 and this coat cost me $10 which is pretty cheap considering these were made by hand :)

  5. Awhh! hehe. I know how you feel, but you gotta dress up when you can! :)
This cardigan is the BOMB!! Totally obsessed. Also you know the UNIF cardi that is so similar to this, good job to you for thrifting one! hehe! yayy!

Oh! and also, (back to your comment on my blog) I did read about the Lime Crime security breach, but I am not sure how it is their fault that someone broke into their site? I know that Doe Deere has done some questionable things in the past, but I feel like people really love to hate her and a lot of the claims are from earlier on and are not up to date.. I don't have super strong opinions either way since I can''t find any current obvious problems. Anyway, that's my thoughts on it!

    1. hehe thank you! this is like, my favourite jacket btw and definitely one of the best thrifting finds I've had

Yeah I guess what some people have claimed is that there were issues with credit card's being compromised as early as November and that the third party security for the site expired under her knowledge, or at least that's what I've heard. thanks for sharing your thoughts though since I know you're super supportive of rad businesses and super cool ladies :)

  6. Totally cute, as always. You wrote something earlier this year about how you feel pressure, as a fashion blogger, to always show off new clothes, to never repeat stuff, but I actually really like it when I see items, like the croquet jacket, popping up in different outfits. I think it shows more creativity, not to mention more realism, on your part; and for us, the readers, seeing so many different combinations is both useful and inspiring. So, thanks for doing what you do.

Also, a bit weird maybe, but I like how the orange is fading out of your hair. It's hazy and dreamy, like a really subtle sunset.

    2. I feel so validated that not only do you agree with me on that front of cycling through pieces but that you remember it in such detail! :)

It does encourage creativity and challenges me to wear something a number of different ways rather than going down the path of fast fashion, wearing a piece once and then selling it on like depop or something. I just find that side of fashion blogging to be really superficial and not a reflection of what's possible for many of us

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments, it's definitely encouraged me to keep at it (as long as it makes a difference to one person that's all I need) <3
